My friends wanted to see a band that had a gig in Fukui, and I heard there’s a beach there, so we took a little bullet train trip to the middle of nowhere.

The newly opened bullet train line took us to Kanazawa where we boarded an older one to Fukui City. It’s not a very exciting place, but it does have some charming spots. To see the best parts though, you have to leave the city and go a little further. A forty-eight-minute ride on a tiny one-car train made us feel as if we had moved back in time, where lovely attendants in elegant, old-fashioned dresses checked the passengers’ tickets. The rocky Tojimbo cliffs, and the crab dishes in nearby restaurants, were especially worth the trip.

Enjoy the rest of the pictures!
